He lived in the town of Bethlehem.
Once a lion attacked the flock to snatch a little lamb for supper. Young David attacked the attacker.
Pulling the lamb away, he grabbed the snarling beast by its beard and killed it. David knew God had helped him.
Samuel, God’s prophet, was still sad that King Saul had failed God so badly. “How long will you mourn for Saul?”, God scolded Samuel. “I am sending you Jesse … For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.” Jesse was David’s father.
Even though Samuel knew King Saul might kill him for going to find another king, the prophet obeyed God.
When Samuel arrived, Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, “The LORD has not chosen these.” That only left David, the youngest. He was out with the sheep. They brought David in. And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one.”
In Saul’s palace, the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul and he became a very troubled man. His servants thought good music might settle Saul’s mind. One of them knew a young man who played the harp well. Can you guess who that man was? Yes, David.
David’s music soothed Saul and helped him to think straight. Saul asked Jesse to let David stay in the King’s service. Whenever Saul had an attack of depression or fear, David played the harp for him. It helped.
After David went home, Saul had a big battle with the Philistines. David’s brothers fought in Saul’s armies. Jesse sent David to the battle front to take food to his brothers and find out how they were.
A HUGE Philistine giant, Goliath, had scared all the Israelite soldiers.
“Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me!” Goliath shouted. “If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us.”
All the men of Israel, when they saw the giant, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid.
Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” Saul wanted David to wear armor and carry a sword. Instead, David took his sling and picked five smooth stones from the brook.
Goliath laughed when he was that young David wasn’t even wearing armor. “I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!” he roared.
“I come to you in the name of the LORD!” David answered. “This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands … for the battle is the LORD’s!”
Then David ran straight toward Goliath. As he ran, he fired one stone from his sling - right into Goliath’s forehead. Goliath fell!
David quickly drew Goliath’s huge sword and cut off his head.
When the Philistines saw Goliath dead, they ran for their lives.
King Saul did not remember that this was the same David who had soothed him with the harp. He put David in charge of his army - then got jealous when the people honored David’s victories.
“Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” Saul thought. So Saul eyed David from that day forward.
Again, King Saul’s mind was troubled. So David played music to try and soothe him. Three times Saul threw his spear at David. But David escaped each time.
Saul was afraid of David because he knew the LORD was with him, but had departed from Saul.
But Jonathan, Saul’s son, loved David as a brother. “My father Saul seeks to kill you,” he warned David. So David escaped. His wife put a dummy in his bed, and let David down from the window in the middle of the night.
When Saul’s men came in the morning, David was gone.
David had to flee far away from Saul. Before he did, he and Jonathan made a covenant together. They promised they would always help each other.
Sadly, the two friends said goodbye. David set out to find a place where he could live without fear of Saul’s soldiers finding him.
David the Shepherd Boy
A story from God’s Word, the Bible
is found in
1 Samuel 16-20
“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” Psalm 119:130
The End
Source
https://bibleforchildren.org
Return to Title | Go to Homepage
Share:

God had a plan when He designed the universe in which we live. He also had a plan when he designed you. The most wonderful experience you can have is to discover and participate in God’s plan for your life.
First … Life’s greatest discovery begins when you realize God loves you, and has a wonderful plan for your life. (A life with meaning and purpose now and in the life to come.) The Bible says, “God loves you.”
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. — John 3:16. God wants you to know His plan for your life.
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (a life full of meaning and purpose) — John 10:10b. From the Bible you see that God loves you and wants you to enjoy the abundant life.
Why do you suppose most people are not experiencing God’s love and enjoying an abundant life? Second … Because …
Man is a sinner and sin has separated him from God. God created man His image and gave him an abundant life. He did not make him as a puppet on a string to love and obey Him automatically; but gave him a will and freedom of choice. Man chose to disobey God and go his own self-willed, sinful way. Man is still making this choice today. Everyone of us, you and me included, has chosen to disobey God in many ways . . .
Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you . . . — Isaiah 59:2. The Bible says that there is not one perfect man.
For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not — Ecclesiastes 7:20. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God — Romans 3:23. Sin is missing the mark of perfection, a falling short of God’s plan for your life and results in spiritual death.
For the wages of sin is death (separation from God in Hell) — Romans 6:23. Man through the ages has tried to bridge the gap which separates himself from God by doing good works … living moral lives … devising profound philosophies … even being religious. But he has always failed.
There is only one remedy for the problem of sin and separation. THIRD … God’s remedy for sin is Jesus Christ crucified. When Jesus died on the cross. He paid for our sins and bridged the gap that separates us from God.
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God — I Peter 3:18a. Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved — Acts 4:12. The Bible says that Jesus died a humiliating, agonizing death. His death paid the penalty for all our sins. But He didn’t stay dead. He rose again that we might be right with God. The gap created by our sin has been bridged by Jesus’ death and resurrection.
He died for our sins.
But God commendeth (proved) His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us — Romans 5:8. He rose from the dead.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved — Romans 10:9. Jesus Christ is the only way to God.
Jesus said unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” — John 14:6. It is not enough to discover that God loves you and has a plan for your life … that man is a sinner … and Christ is God’s remedy for sin . . .
FOURTH … You must receive Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. It is your decision.
Receiving Christ involves turning over control of your life to Christ.
WHO CONTROLS YOUR LIFE? On which side are you? On which side would you like to be? Here’s how you can personally receive Christ.
Trust Jesus and receive Him by personal invitation. But as many as received Him, to him gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name — John 1:12. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved — Romans 10:13. Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear My voice, and open the door I will come in to him — Revelation 3:20.
Jesus is seeking entrance into your life at this moment. Is there any good reason why you cannot receive Jesus Christ right now? It’s really very simple, much like taking …
FOUR STEPS Step One — Admit that you are a sinner and that your sin has separated you from God. Step Two — Repent (turn away from your sin and toward God) and ask Him to forgive you. Step Three — Trust in Jesus who died to pay for your sin and rose victorious over death, giving proof that He is God. Step Four — Yield/commit your life to Him to take control of, from this moment on. Trusting in Jesus is more than mentally recognizing Him as the Son of God or having an emotional experience. You must receive Him as your personal Lord and Savior.
You can express these steps to God by talking to Him in prayer. His main concern is that you understand what you are doing and that you are praying from your heart.
The following is a suggested prayer:
Dear God, I come to you as a sinner. I realize that I deserve to go to hell but am asking that you would be merciful to me and forgive me of my sin. I commit my life to You to take full control of, from this day forward. Thank you for the gift of salvation as I now place my faith and trust in Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? Right now you can pray this prayer and claim the promise that God has made to you and to all that will receive by faith the gift of God which is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Please call the church office (829-1127) if you have prayed this prayer so we can rejoice with you and hopefully help you to grow spiritually in your new life of faith in Christ.
Here’s how to
KNOW Jesus Christ is in your life! Did you invite Christ into your life?
According to Revelation 3:20, where is Christ right now?
What does Romans 10:13 say God will do when a person prays and invites Christ into their life? Would God lie to you? Eternal life is promised in the Bible to all who receive Christ as personal Saviour.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and He that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God — I John 5:11-13. Eternal life is a gift and cannot be earned. It is a part of God’s wonderful plan for your life.
Many people wonder about feelings.
FEELINGS CHANGE … but God and His Word will never change. We are to live by faith, (trusting in the promises of God found in the Bible). For without faith, it is impossible to please God. Will you live your life by feelings (which constantly change) or by faith in God and His Word which cannot change?
Many wonderful things happened when you receive Christ. Here are a few:
Christ came into your life. Revelation 3:20 ... I will come in to him. You became a child of God. John 1:12 ... Power to become the Sons of God. Your sins were forgiven. Colossians 1:14 ... The forgiveness of sins. You have eternal life. Romans 6:23 ... The gift of God is eternal life. Nothing more wonderful could happen to you than receiving Christ.
It would please God for you to thank Him through prayer right now for what He has done for you. This prayer of thanksgiving demonstrates your love for God. What’s next? As a newborn baby has a lifetime of learning and growth ahead of him … so you, a new child of God, have an exciting life of spiritual growth ahead of you. Here are some ways you can grow spiritually:
Tell someone what you have done, then continue telling others about Christ. (Acts 1:8) Be baptized. Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in Christ. (Acts 8:35-40) Read your Bible. (II Timothy 2:15). You need to study your Bible daily to become aware of what God wants to do for you and through you. Talk to God often in prayer. Share with Him your joys, sorrows, needs ... your whole life. (Philippians 4:6-7) Come to church regularly and share in the growth, worship and fellowship. (Hebrews 10:25) Here’s what the Bible teaches about Baptism!
Why? Because …
God commands it. (Matthew 28:19-20) Jesus was baptized. (Mark 1:9-11) Baptism illustrates our salvation (I Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 6:3-5) How? By Immersion in Water, because …
Jesus was immersed. (Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11) The Greek work baptizo means immersion. The early church immersed. (Acts 2:41; 8:35-39) When? After Conversion. (Acts 8:35-39) At your first opportunity. (Acts 8:36; 16:25-34) You can see from the Bible the why, how, and when of baptism. This is part of God’s plan for you and you should follow Christ in believer’s baptism as soon as possible.
Here is what the Bible teaches about …
the Church! The Bible commands us to attend church regularly. (Hebrews 10:25). You need to meet with others who have trusted the Lord Jesus Christ and be taught from the Bible. You need the church for several reasons: worship, teaching, fellowship, counsel.
Several logs burn brightly together, but put one aside on the cold hearth and the fire goes out. So it is with your relationship to other Christians. You need to belong to a Bible-believing church. Do not wait to be invited. Take the initiative; call the pastor of a nearby church where Christ is honored and His Word is preached. Start this week, and make plans to attend regularly.
Share your discovery today!
Berean Bible Baptist Church #6 First St. Area I, UPS 5 Parañaque City 1700 Tel. The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are, nor if you are a church member, but are you saved?
Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die? God says in order to go to Heaven, you must be born again. In John 3:7, Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Ye must be born again."
In the Bible God gives us the plan of how be born again which means to be saved.
His plan is simple! But God loved you so much He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place.
"…He hath made Him [Jesus, Who knew no sin] to be sin for us…that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus had to shed His blood and die.
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11). "…without shedding of blood is no remission [pardon]" (Hebrews 9:22) "…God commandeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Although we cannot understand how, God said my sins and your sins were laid upon Jesus and He died in our place. He became our substitute. It is true, God cannot lie.
My friend, “God … commandeth all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30).
This repentance is a change of mind that agrees with God that one is a sinner, and also agrees with what Jesus did for us on the Cross. In Acts 16:30-31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas:
"… Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" And they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…." Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is received as Savior.
“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12).
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). Whosoever includes you. Shall be saved means not maybe, nor can, but shall be saved. Surely, you realize you are a sinner. Right now, wherever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer.
In Luke 18:13, the sinner prayed:
“God be merciful to me a sinner."
Just pray:
“Oh God, I know I am a sinner, I believe Jesus was my substitute when he died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me, I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace. Amen.”
Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you.
Remember, God does the saving. All of it! God’s simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your place, you will spend eternity in Hell.
If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.
You say, “Surely, it cannot be that simple.” Yes, that simple! It is scriptural. It is God’s plan. My friend, believe on Jesus and receive Him as Savior today.
If His plan is not perfectly clear, read this tract over and over, without closing it until you understand it. Your soul is worth more than all the world.
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36). Be sure you are saved. If you lose your soul, you miss Heaven and lose all.
Please! Let God save you this very moment. God’s power will save you, keep you saved, and enable you to live a victorious Christian life.
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (I Corinthians 10:13). Do not trust your feelings. They change. Stand on God’s promises. They never change.
After you are saved, there are three things to practice daily for spiritual growth:
Pray—you talk to God. Read your Bible—God talks to you. Witness—you talk for God. You should be baptized in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ as a public testimony of your salvation, and then unite with a Bible-believing church without delay.
“Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord…" (2 Timothy 1:8). “Whosoever therefore shall confess [testify of] Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32).
Berean Bible Baptist Church #6 First St. Area 1, UPS 5 Parañaque City Tel No. 829-1127 berean_ups5@yahoo.com
Return to Title | Go to Homepage
Share:

This is the most important question of life.
